Job Overview

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Floral Design Freelancer to assist with floral arrangements for weddings, corporate events, hotel installations, and luxury retail displays. This role is ideal for someone with a strong floral design background who enjoys working on diverse projects in a dynamic and artistic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and assemble floral arrangements for weddings, events, and luxury retail clients.
• Assist with on-site installations, including hotel and corporate floral decor.
• Assist the team in conditioning and processing flowers to ensure optimal freshness and longevity.
• Collaborate with the Lead Floral Designer to bring creative floral concepts to life.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are properly handled.
• Work efficiently to meet tight deadlines, particularly during peak event seasons.

Requirements

• Proven experience in floral design, with a portfolio showcasing past work (min 3 years).
• Strong knowledge of flower care, handling, and preservation techniques.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with large-scale floral installations and event decor.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet project deadlines.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings, based on project needs.
• Physical ability to lift and transport floral arrangements and supplies.
• Access to reliable transportation for on-site work when required.
• Must have a driver's license.

Senior Floral Designer 
Full-time | Vancouver, BC

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9-5pm
Salary: $25-28 per hour
Benefits: Available after a 3 month probationary period

Job Overview 

Garden Party Flowers is seeking an experienced Floral Designer to join our creative team.

This is a senior design position. The ideal candidate is a strong and efficient floral designer who is comfortable working independently, has experience with floral pricing and recipe creation, and is excited by the opportunity to help grow a profitable retail business.

Reporting to the Lead Designer, the Senior Floral Designer will be responsible for the day-to-day designing and administrative tasks related to Garden Party's retail orders while also supporting the Lead Designer with weddings, events and larger corporate projects.

Key Responsibilities

Floral Design

• Design and produce high-quality floral arrangements in keeping with Garden Party Flowers' aesthetic and design standards
• Independently execute daily retail and online orders
• Design recurring corporate floral arrangements and other studio orders
• Support the Lead Designer with wedding and event production
• Participate in wedding and event installations as required
• Execute recipes and creative direction developed by the Lead Designer
• Assist with large-scale floral installations and special projects
• Maintain high standards of design consistency, mechanics, finishing and presentation

Weddings & Events

The Senior Floral Designer will act as a senior member of the production team supporting the Lead Designer.

Responsibilities may include:

• Producing wedding and event designs according to established recipes
• Leading portions of production when assigned
• Providing guidance to studio assistants and freelance designers
• Assisting with event preparation, packing, loading, installation and strike
• Helping ensure production is completed efficiently, accurately and on schedule

Studio Admin 

• Provide guidance and training to junior studio staff when required
• Help maintain an organized, clean and efficient studio
• Ensure flowers are processed, stored and cared for correctly
• Help maintain floral and hard-good inventory
• Communicate purchasing, inventory or production issues proactively
• Work collaboratively with the Owner, Lead Designer and studio team
• Develop floral recipes and determine product costing in collaboration with the Lead Designer and Owner
• Forecast quantities and purchasing requirements for hard goods based on anticipated sales and maintain appropriate retail inventory levels
• Monitor product usage and waste
• Identify opportunities to introduce new products and increase retail sales
• Help develop strategies to grow online and in-studio retail revenue while maintaining target profitability

Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• 3+ years of professional floral design experience, with strong independent design skills
• Experience working in a professional floral studio or high-quality retail florist
• Strong knowledge of flowers, seasonality, conditioning and floral care
• Experience or desire to learn about purchasing flowers and managing floral inventory
• Understanding of floral recipes, costing and margins
• Experience with weddings and events
• Ability to design efficiently while maintaining a high level of quality
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks
• Comfort working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative studio
• Interest in helping grow revenue and profitability for the business
